“Everyone Has a Story” W/ Dale Kepler

Dale Kepler is a native Iowan. He was born and grew up in Estherville, where he met the love of his, Sheila, a native of Emmetsburg, Iowa.

He earned his Master of Business Administration and Bachelor in Business Administration from the University of Iowa. Dale has over 30 years of experience in Operations and Lean Manufacturing. He is also a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he was an M1A1 Armor Crewman becoming a Tank Commander, Section Sergeant, and achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Dale lives with his wife, Sheila, in Iowa City. They have three adult children, a daughter Ollie, and sons Patrick and Aaron. Dale loves to laugh and tries to find humor in almost everything; classic rock(don’t ask his favorite band, rest assured they recorded their hits between 1970-1990) and good food- not, pretty food. He loves the Iowa Hawkeyes, bike riding, and reading.

Dale affectionately suffers from RBF(Resting Bitch Face)- or, as his family describes, “the Look.” In describing Dale to his friends' parents, son Aaron cracked,” My dad is like a hand grenade, just looking for someone to pull his pin.”

Dale and Sheila have been longtime advocates for people experiencing homelessness and those struggling with food insecurity. They were heavily involved with their church- First Christian Church, in providing overflow shelter for the homeless. They have also been active volunteers for the Coralville Food Pantry. Dale also served on the board of the Iowa City Shelter House. Dale’s biggest pet peeve is people who play the victim and lack any sense of responsibility or accountability for decisions that they have made.
